ahh gifts from the gods...my favourite kind
what to do with them?
plonk them in milk glass and photograph of course.
don't worry that's not all...in no time they will be partnered with their ol mate lemons and whisked into a delish lemon lime tart....not by me I might just add.
the chefs home so im putting her to work!
lemons and limes are by far the most consumed fruit in our home. and I know what your thinking....no not just to pretty up my coronas!
they are added to everything. it amazes me what the fresh juice of a lemon or lime can add to a meal.
always just before serving (so the chef says)
the rinds will be candied and some kept for the fire ( put them on the last embers of a fire before going to bed and the smell in the morning is fab....orange works too)
we are off to collect cumquats from mums this afternoon....zzzzziinnggg!!
but chomp on one of these fellas and you can kiss winter bugs goodbye!
its worth the eyes watering!
mum sometimes steeps them in brandy over low heat for a few hours ( plus clove or cinnamon sometimes) then coats in dark choc!.
I`ll be back to share some tart pics later.
(no not the wife....just her creation!)
want to see some more green pretties?
head over to lou`s
her nature in the home series is dreamy!
hope everyone is staying warm

My goodness is that basket weave milk glass? Be still my heart, love it love it love and never seen it before. mel x
ReplyDeleteLovely pics, and do share any good lime recipes, I get buckets from a friend and am all of a dither as to what to do with them, after I've made lime curd, cake....
ReplyDeleteAll your photos have been great, but there's something about the simplicity of these that just blows me away! I guess I should have been drinking more margaritas, because this summer cold really has got me down. :(
ReplyDeleteThe perfect combination. but then again nearly everything goes with milk glass.

I left my limes on the tree for too long and they've turned into limons.
ReplyDeleteYou're lucky!

Thank you so much for this! I would never have known! Would you believe I was almost gonna ditch them?! (well in all honesty I did chuck out a few. Ooops!) Now I don't feel guilty - about leaving them on the tree and being slack - I do feel guilty for ditching though! Can't wait to try them - until I read your comment I just kept them because they looked pretty in our fruit bowl! Off to visit your blog x
Deleteabsolutely delicious!

ReplyDeleteHaha, tart, can't stop chuckling! Your humor is brilliant, lady!
ReplyDeleteWe love lemon lime tart around these parts! Sam eats lemons & limes fresh, though I wouldn't mind trying your mothers recipe - anything with brandy & chocolate is a winner for me!
