Nic and I went adventuring to the ops yesterday...yes she does adventure with me on occasion...although I did lure her with a wink and a promise of a leisurely lunch which may or may not of included mojitos?!
now adventuring to such places with my darling wife is not really much fun (there I said it!).
the eye rolling, the nose holding and the WTF`s kinda take the fun out of it...but she knows me well and has learnt that if she helps then it all moves a little faster. Nic spotted this fab fruit bowl on sweet pins for a $1 and declared that opping was over for the day (we had been at it 5 mins!)
oh my love you must do better than that I declared!!
and she did by spotting this sweet blue suitcase also for $1
there were granny knits for all......I have way too many of these as it is but its an addiction (just ask nic)....and they make really cute cubby houses!!....for the kids....just in case I needed to make that clear?!
add to the haul a really pretty tablecloth for $2 and a lovely vintage blue posy bowl for $4.
I gave nic the challenge to find something that id like and could use (and that shed like as well of course)......must admit I was rather nervous as id promised her I wouldn't judge or complain or snicker!
she kind of delivered....its an Arabia jug for $1.
she said the bull reminded her of me?!.....lucky for her im Taurean!
and I had to bloody admit that I liked it!!
we finished our day at our fab local scoffing delish pork belly rolls with apple coleslaw. washed down with one or two or three or four mojitos
she has now returned to work for three whole weeks and will be returning when the school holidays are OVER....jesus and mary chain give me strength!!
i hope everyone is staying warm and dry.
Awesome finds, I'm jealous...........again! Jees, how is Nics timing for being away the entire school holidays? It is 1.47pm here, the kids are going nuts and after reading this post, I REALLY want a mojito! xo
ReplyDeleteyay...good news just in!...she will be back nxt week...thank god for roster changes! x
Deleteooooerrr.......loving the blue posy bowl !!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI have to say that Nic won me over completely with the wooden fruit bowl and the Arabia pitcher. She can help me find cool bargains anytime she's free. :)
ReplyDeleteI share you weakness, or maybe call it an obsession with crochet rugs. I came home with yet another one the other day & my eagle eyed hubby spotted it immediately. You'd think one more would blend in with the rest!!! Xx
ReplyDeleteI had to laugh cause when I chose the rugs, nic turned to me and said "this isn't just a hobby anymore is it?"....um?...probably not x
DeleteOh, that Nic, she is doing well on the Oppy front, isn't she now! That Arabia jug, what a fab bargain; they are becoming SO rare! I finally have a set of three, my first (the tan cow) was a gift from my Mum in 1971 (after much hinting!) and it took me until last year to find the 3rd one in an Oppy.
ReplyDeleteLike you, I can't resist adding to the pile of Granny blankets. I always feel a tinge of sadness that they end up in an Op shop; I wonder who created it with love, and for the warmth and comfort of whom.
X
Ooh arabia jug, very, cery pricey here in nz they are! My fave is the blue suitcase, just love that shade of blue. Nic has the eye, if not the heart (and nose!) for opping thats for sure.
ReplyDeleteSingle parent in school hols? You so deserved that oppy trip!
Fabulous haul. That lunch sounds delicious (as do the mojitos). Sending strength and stamina for the three weeks single parenting.
ReplyDeleteit was very yummy....best coleslaw ive ever had....and ive had my share! (give me an aussie who hasn't!) x
Deletelol that's hysterical, that reminds me of joe and me in a charity shop! he hates it! brilliant finds though, those knits on the suitcase are delicious! and my darling girl did you not see my comment on one of your other posts about my parcel, it arrived last weekend and I have been floating ever since! It has made me feel so gorgeously special I am vowing to send parcels to everyone!!! it was wondrous and I utterly ADORE EVERYTHING! I am doing a blog post honey about the day a parcel made me feel like the queen of lovely!!! Thank you thank you thank you! Now track down my comment it's on one of your posts a few posts back! (hey and there's a lovely little parcel nearly finished to wing it's way back to you my darling!) xxxxxxx
ReplyDeleteahhh queen of lovely....the perfect title for you x
DeleteWhy is it that most of our other halves pretty much loathe the whole charity (op shop) and carbooting thing?' I have to say Nic did pretty well love the blue suitcase and the lovely tablecloth!! As for the bull jug, I love it and it certainly made me giggle. Phew for being a Taurean, i know mine would have represented a bull in a china shop, haha! Sounds like you had a fab day out!! Xoxo
ReplyDeleteScore!
ReplyDeleteLove the fruit bowl.
My other half wasn't that keen on op-shopping to start with, but he's becoming pro at spotting the treasures now. Practice makes perfect.
ReplyDeleteSome beautiful finds by Nic. x
What amazing finds! You come home with the best stuff. Three whole weeks? Or week ends off? Justin is going to Hong Kong with his Mum in October and I am dreading it. I even got him to turn do photographing Splendour for me this year. Didn't ask, but did the guilty as charged "oh so how long are going to be gone this time? Oh Jarvis will really miss his Daddy" Yeah I know I can be a bitch
ReplyDeleteyep a whole 3 weeks...Nic works in mining up in FNQ and works away 3 weeks at a time. mostly it flies by...but we def have our moments of hell. x
DeleteOh dear lord woman this post was a tease and a laugh. Bless your wifey she'd get along quite well with my hubby, with their snide comments and turned up nose. I must admit he is a lot, lot, lot better these days but he has a threshold. Are you packing the case for your holidaying to visit me?
ReplyDeleteI'm very teased over your afternoon at the local. X
I love your posts Allison. Great sense of humour.
ReplyDeleteLove your suitcase!! $1?! Now that's what I call a score. Nice one.

ReplyDeleteLove that blue suitcase and blankets Al, gorgeous. How lovely you both had such a great day together, if we lived closer I'd come and help you out with your kids these holidays. They've come too fast don't you reckon? Will be thinking of you, if all else fails, cook! Which is something Ruby and I'll be doing a lot of these holidays, to keep her busy! xx
ReplyDeleteGosh she has trained up rather well hasn't she? Almost makes up for deserting you during the school hols! Love that blue posy vase, I have a mint green version, and also that fruit bowl with its little legs is fabbo. mel x
ReplyDeleteSaying a Hail Mary for your school holiday sanity Al.
ReplyDeleteI think you and the Mrs make a pretty good op-shopping team - there's some nice stuff there. Love the Arabia...are you a little on the stubborn side?
