a birthdays been had, another candle was not added to the cake (some things are best played down). friends appeared , glorious food prepared and consumed with gusto. a little bit of booze was splashed around....I may have over indulged.
cheeky gifts were given, there was a little teasing and a lot of guffawing!
I had a really really good time, and I can prove that because very few pics were taken.
my darling hearts tease me a lot about my jesus/mary/joseph fetish (now I know fetish is not the right word here but infatuation doesn't seem right either)
but they love me and think of me when trawling junk shops and garage sales.
oh they sure know how to give a good birthday present
isn't St Teresa here a beauty
painted onto tin, in junk shop condition which just means she fits in here perfectly
everyone took a moment to gaze upon here and all conceded that her eyes in fact moved!....did I mention that the champagne was bloody delish!.
jesus wasn't to be outshone....he belongs here too.
on a garage sale hunt the homeowner was asked in jest if he had any jesus`s (?) to sell
voila!!...and welcome.
these are my birthday blooms sitting pretty in a gifted teapot from a few birthdays ago.
these are some of those blooms in a coffee pot gifted for this birthday from same super fun hot sexy smart stunning friend (yes she reads this blog!) x
hello ol mate there in the background!
my mum gave me a bunch of old family pics and this one is by far my favourite
its my mum and dad on my mums 17th birthday. they went for a date to the river to have a picnic and listen to the wireless....she also gave me a sweet cake plate (which promptly had a sponge plonked onto it)
see!
my stunning wife made me my sponge cake and Frankie put the strawbs on and added sprinkles
and yep forgot to take a before pic.....was demolished in record time!
I do love birthdays but often do not celebrate my own....not any more
there is way too much fun to be had and way too much love to share.
happy birthday to me!!!!!
Al xx

Ah happy birthday to you Al (and in our Dutch tradition here the whole family gets congratulated so congrats to all of you!!)Sounds like you had a great time, good for you. Could we have a recipe please for that amazing sponge? Have always wanted to make one, what am I afraid of? Not turning out like yours by the looks, it looks yum. Love the flowers and the photo of your parents too. Hope this week is just as good xx
ReplyDeleteBelated birthday greetings to you, party animal you.
ReplyDeleteThat cake by that woman? She's definitely a keeper Al!
I attempted climbing the shelves of an Op Shop last week to retrieve a Jesus framed print from the wall for you, alas I was sternly told it was NOT for sale but for display only (in St Vinnies, of course), and I was scolded for not asking staff to retrieve items out of my reach! I'll be donning a burqua next time I go to THAT Oppy!
Top photo of your Mum & Dad.
