I wasn't setting foot in the door of an oppy this week....I swear I wasn't. I may have mentioned before that there are oppies right near my little fella`s school...I pass them every morning and again every afternoon...they have huge store fronts...lovely big display windows and bargain bins on the footpath.....you see my dilemma.
add to that...the dilemma that I may or may not have become rather well known to the sweet oppy ladies who work (play) there, and walking past without actually going in is just about impossible!...impossible I tell you!!
especially when one of them says to you " oh theres a box of goodies there that you would love"
tell me you wouldn't scoot in and have a squiz!!
I was on my way to work, its was pouring with rain so I grabbed the whole box, parted with $10 bucks , high fived dear Lorraine (my oppy friend) and was on my way.
I got to unpack the box at about 9.30 last night (after niccy went to bed - otherwise the eye rolls and the WTF`s kind of take away the shine)
how gorgeous is this pattern?!...its called Ellgreave. cant wait to pop flowers in her.
all my favourite colours in this one.
am in love with this little cutie....so sweet.
a sweet Johnson sugar pot.....have dropped the lid three times already....I now know why you rarely find them with a lid!.
ive always romantically imagined owing a honey pot that sat on the brekky table waiting for me to drizzle sweet nectar on my freshly homemade bread........one word.....ANTS!
even our sugar bowl is in the fridge at the moment as we have been overrun with the blighters....add to that the bloody fruit fly thingys and I wouldn't blame you if you thought we were running a karate school at our place....theres some dangerous moves going on!!.
this is a sweet little wall vase....know nothing at all about except that its a cutie!
are you sick and tired of Johnson yet??.....well shut the hell up cause heres some more!!
a new to me design with the best colours ever!
what am I going to do with all my cups you ask??....don't know but its better than collecting cats.
so now my promise to myself starts all over again...Im not stepping into another oppy this week!!
I will not make eye contact with oppy ladies, I will not carry loose change and I will not raise my eyes from the footpath!!!
Lorraine forgive me!

Oh, Oh, Oh, Al, what have you done, girl! You just know those Oppy ladies will be waiting at the school gate if you miss dropping in on them every second day at least.
ReplyDeleteWhat excitement, digging into the $10 box for those treasures, such a bargain .. I'm surprised your squeals didn't wake Niccy.
they probably tut tut about me..."I think shes got a bit of a problem"....oh well there are worse vices! x
DeleteI'm jealous. And as a devoted Johnson collector I will never get sick of seeing photos of the latest additions of Johnson ware.
ReplyDeleteThat is a 'not yet in the collection' design plate. It is so pretty.
As for the ant issue I found this post on 'Easy Peasy Oragnic' that may help- http://www.easypeasyorganic.com/2012/05/non-toxic-ant-control.html
x
thanks zara, its really out of control!!...the ants I mean! x
Deletelol re the eye rolls and comments!!!! that was quite a box you got there, my fave is the pretty jug. i haven't been in an oppy all week (i have no restraint, just sore stitches!) so i'm relying on the hubby for my op-shop fixes this week!
ReplyDeleteand he did well I see!! x
DeleteOOOOOOOOOERRRRRRR.....what FAB finds ....I LOVE THEM all !!
ReplyDeleteOh wow! You really did well there! Amazing finds, especially the cups!

It'd be rude not to pop in and have little look-see! It's hard enough to ignore the thrill of a the hunt when it comes to vintage, with finds like that in your hood - for ten bucks - who can blame you?! I get the eye rolls too, he's all about modern clean lines and thinks I'm becoming a nana before my time. Thanks for the giggle with the karate school visual ;-) Belinda x
ReplyDeleteJust look at it as doing your civic duty to support small business and the retail industry :0)

One word ANTS. LOL. Yes here too. Everywhere it seems, and black house spiders, that are growing fatter & plumper by the day basking in the wet mornings & hot afternoons here. Really their bums are the size of walnuts. Not cool. Anyroadup, love your latest finds & I am inspired to get down to my local oppy soon.
ReplyDeleteI live with an eye roller, tutterer! ...unsupportive lovers!
ReplyDeleteWell tell them and yourself you must thrift, thrifting is good....stop denying your true self Allison! You know by Friday there will be more Johnson at the oppy! :)
I'm giggling at the eye rolls and the ants! Aren't they some sort of sign of more rain? I have a romantic idea of having our house all open doors and living with the elements like you see in the magazines, but in two words: flies and snakes! Love everything, especially the cute little jug. Gorgeous. xx
ReplyDeleteoh loving them all!!!! i have WTF eye rolls this end as well! lol 2 thrifters together would simply kill each other fighting over the bargains! xxxxx
ReplyDeleteThat Lorraine, she's a bad influence! Ha-ha!
ReplyDeleteThank you v.much for my gorgeous t.t. etc Allison. I have refilled the shoebox and sent it back to whence it came...
Keep an eye out x
a travelling shoebox!...(your welcome) x
DeleteI'm green! Great finds. You lucky thing x
ReplyDeleteThose are some fantastic finds. I especially love that honey pot!
ReplyDelete$10 for all that?! Geez man, I must be shopping at the wrong op shops! So much kitchen goodness. The little sugar bowl is great, as is the honey pot, the 2nd pic (bisbuit barrell? I have a similiar one at home but the container is a beige/brown with a flat dark brown lid. Yours is much better with the green lid and cream container - really sets the flower pattern off more), and of course the Johnson. : )
ReplyDeleteThese are all so pretty! My favorites are the cups at the end.
ReplyDeleteWTF!!! $10, you gotta be kidding me. What a haul of vintage goodness, love it all. You go girl!
ReplyDeleteAlso a little surprise is on it's way to you.
I'm on way may now to see what I can grab at my oppy.
To-da-loo
I just love the little jug, so so pretty!
