this was nics 40th b`day pressie....she loved it...
these pics are all from a delish book I picked up recently called "Fashion Handicrafts"...published by Golden Hands in 1975....it made for great Sunday arvo reading whilst it was pouring rain outside.
I probably would of begged my mum to make me outfits like these in 1975....no she didn't give in but I did own a pair of crochet bikinis.....cruel photographer obviously didn't allow loo breaks!
this next ones a worry....posh soap holder or posh urinal??....shag in the bathroom....yeah baby!

I was going to style and prop and primp the lounge room so I could show you all our new sofas...
then I just thought bugger it...it looks like this most of the time anyhow. we are argueing over where the chaise goes...nic wants it this way, I want it at the bottom of the picture to bal out the coffee table....nic tells me I think too much
either way I like it now its in situ....not so much when we bought it but because I can never decide on anything Nic made the executive decision on this one.
I got to choose the cushions!....(that tells you so much doesn't it!)...will have pics of cushions soon, the kids have pinched them?...so for now we have the little white dog pillow.

ReplyDeleteI don't want to cause any trouble...but I'm with you...I think the chaise would look better at the other end...to balance out the coffee table!! Oh and I expect to see all these gorgeous crochet creations created....soon :)

DeleteI too had a crochet bikini and distinctly remember my four year old self having trouble keeping the pants up in big waves. Love the salties, kicking back in my yellows as I type. I agree with you on the chaise I think. We have been out checking out lounges too, v exciting. mel x

ReplyDeleteHeidi Grows Up and Mary Poppins. Sigh. I read all the Heidi books soo many times growing up. My heart went pitter patter just seeing those books - even the same copies! I'll have to look out for Adventures in Two Worlds. The magazine shots are hilarious - yep -those girls needed a toilet break! So glad I found your blog via Sunday Stills!

Glad you didn't style and prop the living room, I see enough of that sterile neatness in magazines. Nice to see stuff and people in the picture - Nic looks chilled out, and Frankie in the groove.
ReplyDeleteOh those Golden Hands books, aren't they a giggle! I got rid of mine very quickly once the 70's look was 'out' but recently hauled home the entire set of 18 Golden Hands books just for a laugh. Some of those patterns are in mine. I actually made and wore a crochet bikini in the early 1970's - disastrous when I decided to go in the water, I came out minus the bottoms!! How good is that yellow "Pretty Cover Up"!!! Is the model Delvene Delaney, I wonder?
