johnson & johnson....BYO zing...

I may or may not be in a little strife....you see there a four members in this family so how on earth do I explain the need (want?) to have so many dinner sets?...

I will let the pics speak for themselves.....tell me would you say no to such a haul?...each design set varied in size the smallest being for four....and they were $6.00 each regardless of set size.

no cups and saucers just plates.......you see my problem.....yes I have a problem of the vintage loving kind.....I sooo need to open a shop of my own!

for the time being ive chosen one of each design to make up one set for six....the rest?...in the sideboard. I could certainly feed an army, well at least provide dinnerware.

below is what happens when you take your two and a half year old daughter to the oppy....every little homeless animal finds its way into your basket....im saving you the pain of looking at about 50 my little ponies!

I had a guiding hand in the swan selection...I had similar on my dressing table growing up....they were all $1 each....what to do with in ?...in the sideboard!

now a tiara is certainly not something that you find everyday...it was 50c. perfect for the dress up box

this was my big splurge of the day ...$6. And no it wont be going in the sideboard...it will hang in the kitchen for me to admire.

we are in a fog here this week....ive been as sick as the proverbial dog....test after test and still no joy...somehow I think the diagnosis this time will simply be "motherhood".

a cup of cement is on the menu.

sharing with the lovely max and wendy today.

sorry about the lack of zing in todays post.....when I find my zing I`ll let you know!
Axx

  1. Love the crockery, ugly but beautiful, as was so much from the 70's. I'm def with you though, I love it. We had one set of that, my mother would be horrified if I went out and bought it all again. Hope you find your zing again soon! Blogging def helps I find.

  2. Oh my god, we had that second set growing up. Not even kidding, it took me straight back to the kitchen table at my childhood home. Oh my goodness. Niki x

  3. That second set must have been popular...I remember my brother and his wife having that in their first home. I think you need to either have a big party and invite us all OR come up with a wall display of hanging plates. Loooove the last one with the country scene....it's just too pretty.
Hope you're feeling better soon :)

  5. AHhhhhh, all those swans!!! I'm mad for Crown Lynn Swans, but they are so hard to get over here, and when you do they are so expensive. I'm the same with Crown Lynn plates etc, the designs are very similar to Johnsons. I gifted some of my plates to my sis n law as we had over 30 dinner plates and "him indoors" felt that we had a "few" too many (he does'nt know about the ones in the shed) ;-)

  6. Oh our neighbours growing up had that first set and they all look so familiar! Talk about memories. If you opened your own shop though would you be able to part with them? How about a restaurant instead - ha. We've got sick people here too, am over it. Hope you're on the mend soon Al, take care of yourselves. PS: Frankie sounds too cute. Does she get all grumpy and squawky when she doesn't get the stuff she wants in the shops, or is that just my girls? xx

  12. Well Al, you've kept me speechless for 3 days, it must be a record. Half of those Johnson designs are new to me - they're all fab. Sophie weazled the 2 dinner plates I had in the first of your pictures ... she is fighting hard NOT to inherit my collecting gene but I think it is impossible to fight that one.
Very reassuring to read that both you and Zara have the same need for dinner sets as me. I refuse to count how many I own. I picked up a few more plates this week, had no intention of doing so. I have to store the majority in the shed.
Do hope you get your Zing back real soon. Try sleeping in the tiara, it might just do the trick. XOX

  15. Crikey you got quite a haul there! I love the dandilion design one the most, and the tiara is too pretty for a toy, i say wear it whilst doing the washing up and see if that doesnt give you your zing back! Seriously though, hope you feel better soon, only thing worse than being ill is unexplained illness x
