morning...

im lucky enough to sit and admire this view every morning.this is where i have my first cuppa of the day.its usually at a very early time...my little guy never sleeps past 5.30am.
niccy has long gone, having left the house at her usual 4am. frankie will be the last to rise at about 6.30am. i sit bleary eyed and i can usually tell from this view what kind of day is ahead weatherwise. this day was very hot...38 degrees...the hazy sunrise is a giveaway.

the border ranges surround us to the north.just over that range is Uki, Murwillumbah and the coast. the jacs are out all along the rivers edge.there is a lot of cattle between the road and river,we hear them all day long and into the night.

this is looking south onto town,we cant see much of it thanks to trees but at night it all lights up and looks really pretty.

this beauty is smack bang in the middle of our rather large front yard. it is our air con.the house never overheats thanks to her, and the lake a few roads over. cool breezes everyday.
she is the kids pal too.the red swing is bottom right. hours & hours are spent under her....not up her yet as kids not quite big enough to reach those bottom branches....thank goodness, i doubt my heart could take it!

you can just see the lake in this pic...shes huge, but on private land so not for our use im afraid. lovely to walk past everday....the birdlife is amazing.

i pinch myself most days that i am surrounded by all this beauty. most mornings it helps me with my early starts, picks me up (and shows me whos boss). some huge weatherfronts have come over those ranges....they never fail to impress.

it is also a great distraction...especially the past few days as the time looms closer of Niccys departure. im nervous, she is nervous and the kids are blissfully ignorant. her working away is such a huge change for us and its a really something we hope can work out. her hours have always been very long and really unsociable (shes a chef if i havent already said?) but she has never been more than an hour away if i need her......im focusing on the fact that in 12 years ive never needed her urgently anyway lol....but you know what i mean right?.

she is out at the pub tonight with some wokmates (she resigned friday) having a few celebratory champas!...and im home with the kids :(....not all that bad, kids are having ice cream and milo for dessert...i may just join them!

hope you are having a more exciting saturday night than me.

Axx

  2. Ah icecream and Milo. Poor man's pudding (that's what we used to call it when we were kids)
What a view. I reckon all that gorgeous tree needs is a tree house. You'll be right Allison, my husband works away - it was horrible in the beginning - lots of tears, but we survived (and still are, surviving) Just think of all those lovely reunions you're going to have!
Boring but good Sat. night here.

  3. That view is wonderful. What sort of tree is your big tree? Is it a laurel? ( I have a bit of a tree fetish). Good luck with your girl being away, how often will she be back? We were out last night celebrating our 12 th wedding anniversary - we discovered the Max Brenner chocolate shop, yummo. Mel x

  4. Gorgeous view. I always tell anyone who'll listen that the Northern NSW hinterland area around Uki is my favourite place to visit. We drive down to Tumbulgum often and use it as a launching pad to explore the area. Lovely, lovely.
