Jesus and his homegirl!!...Nic and I had an adventure to Mullumbimby and we found this pretty lady hidden in the back of a vintage wares store ($8).
I can not sing Mullum`s praises enough...what a fab town.
this little shelf is in Frankies room...the latest additions are the sweet little log vase (20c) and the books ($4 the lot)
yes more holey pictures....its truly an addiction. sweet praying Mary was a $1.00 at Vinnies a few weeks back. Jesus as a lad behind the vase was a find at a garage sale about 10 years ago....cant remember what I paid for him....I vaguely remember the lady giving it to me for nothing.
This trio of fabulousness was a gift from a sweet friend a couple of years back. found on Etsy I believe. They are photos mounted on wood blocks. The little girl is the spitting image of my mother as a child. So even though I know its not her...I pretend it is...weird?...maybe.
Love them or hate them big eyes have been in my life since the 70`s.
This piece of perfection was found at the Salvos last week for $5.
I have my own from childhood packed away but I have found a few more of these just this year at a garage sale. This one was obs packed away and most likely never graced the grubby hands of any child. her hair is perfect as is the fab outfit and hat.
I have no doubt she is the queen of all of Frankies toys.
She takes no shit!
see....back off Babs...theres a new biatch in town!!
Does anyone else purchase and then display old photos of people they do not know from a bar of soap?...just me?...oh well!
this sweet oval pic is pressed on tin and I adore it!.
I found these vintage munchkins at a vintage store in Lismore and for $8 I adopted them.
Dressed in their sunday best, clean faced, hair neat and tidy and with delicate smiles...who would not want these kiddos.
they are on a wall in our bedroom and yes ive named them (NUTTER!)
meet Hazel and Harry...
Its pouring with rain, freezing cold and its just me and the little angel home together today.
no plans...the best days.
im just ignoring the washing to be done and the fact that the dogs have dug a whole the size of texas in the back yard.
Al xx
Lovin'you stuff .......especially the books xx
ReplyDeleteSuch cool and interesting stuff! My daughter has always bought photos of people she doesn't know whenever she runs across them at estate sales. And I have a cousin who buys them and turns them into greeting cards.
ReplyDeleteI'm always disturbed by photos set free into the world.
ReplyDeleteIt's like they have been cast adrift.
Separated from their loved ones.
They break my heart.
Oh ... I've come over all sentimental. I had one of those dolls ... and I LOVED her. I remember being told "Not for playing ... just for looking".
ReplyDeleteWhat a sad deprived childhood I must have had ;0)
xx
never seen those dolls before, she looks very haughty, i think i'd be a bit afraid of her. i love love the picture to the left from in Frankies room, the girl with the basket (of fish?), total tomboy chic x
ReplyDeleteyep that's a basket of fish....isn't she lovely. found this at a garage sale moons ago...French tomboy chic even! x
DeleteGreat finds! Love the way you've put them together.
ReplyDeleteLiz @ Shortbread & Ginger
Good lord you do a lovely display of your finds! It's raining here and our pooch is digging swimming pools in our backyard too! xo
ReplyDeleteOoh such lovely little finds for a steal!! Love the lovely display in frankie's room it looks so darling. Raining again here too. As for the washing it can wait, priorities a cuppa to same you up xoxo
ReplyDeleteWhat a stylish little display for miss Frankie, and not a whiff of pink, lucky you! And that doll looks so familiar to me but I don't actually remember having one, perhaps just coveting them from afar. mel x
ReplyDeleteoh there is pink all right...head to toe....it was inevitable I suppose! xx
DeleteI really love your still life on the mantel with the mix of religious imagery. Both beautiful pieces. You've got a great eye!
ReplyDeletelol you called me a nutter for climbing onto farm machinery...now i think Hazel and Harry may have something to say about that!! i adore that queen biatch doll...i had 3 of them and i am sitting here now wondering what happened to them, they are with me no more! loving your thrifted stuff nutter x
ReplyDeleteWhen I was a little girl one of my friends was Catholic, she had a Virgin Mary in her bedroom which we used to pray too! :) x
ReplyDeleteLove that Buddha in the mix and the lamp behind it.
ReplyDeleteAh Buddha keeps them in line! x
DeleteHaha! I don't know about the 'not nutters' bit???? Could well be nutters;) Love those big eyes dolls. I had one when I was a kidlet and I haven't seen one like yours for a long, long time. Love that you keep photos of people you don't know. Does Jesus have any resemblance to anyone in your family? LOL Love it all, Allison! Thanks so much for stylig with me and Naomi this week. Things are pretty quiet over there at F & N so I think I might make it a once a fortnight or monthly thing. what do you reckon? xx
ReplyDeleteYes I love old photos especially the old war ones.
ReplyDeletethe little shelf of Frankie's is perfect. gosh you really have quiet the collections of jesus's.
x
Holy Jesuses! They are taking over, Al! I've been on the lookout for anything Jesus (Mary or Joseph) for you but nada, nuffink, none down this neck of the woods. Seems we are a God-bothering lot down here and are hanging close to our holy stuff, while "youse" up north are all a mob of heathens ;)
ReplyDeletePhew, I'm so relieved I misunderstood the bit about the little girl looking like your Mum when she was a child ... I thought you were referring to Blue Eyes in the pic below and SHE really scares me, she reminds me of Magda Szubanski's character, Chenille - http://youtu.be/8gD6Q-T1lO0
x
they just keep on finding me suse....prob a message in all that but hey who`s listening? x
DeleteI'm late to the party but dear lord (whoops sorry holy pictures) that is a sweet, sweet, collection of lovelyness. I must do Mullum and we have been thinking of a family road trip down for the Lismore Car Boot Sale, fancy a catch up? Your doll is perfection, but I should just add she has my hair. Clearly she was made in my reflection lol. Does that make it weird now for you that I said that?
ReplyDeleteDo I display old pics of people I don't know? Ummm I haven't been lucky enough to find decent old pics, so that has bought up the opportunity to display them. I possibly may, depending on the pic I guess. Time will tell I guess.
Hope you're well love.
P.S - no more blurry vision it's happened a few times on and off through the pregnancy at different stages. Only about 10 weeks to go. X
you betcha!...if you get within cooee of my place let me know!!!...the car boots are not bad...big and busy, but I always come away with a find or two! xx
DeleteI pretty much love everything here - especially your ballerina print. I have a little collection of them myself. Oh, and your collection of vases and things in the first pic- awesome!
