my dad and his garden saves the day again. its raining still (sorry suze!) and its all a bit gloomy and damp. we all know how not fun it is to be ferrying kids to and from school in this weather. the constant requests of...stay with me...look out for puddles...hold my hand...no im holding the umbrella!. when you have two little cherubs, one who is insanely independent and another who is the polar opposite , struggles are a given and we all end up soaked and frazzled ( well me frazzled the kids oddly delighted)
in steps Pa who not only offers to take Charlie to school, hands over morning tea and these beautiful roses from his little piece of heaven on earth (they are "Pierre de Ronsard" climbing roses if your interested).
the sun tried to shine for about 3 minutes so I snapped away like a mad woman. the sweet handbag is from the dress up box. I love finding these vintage bags at the oppy, this one complete with a one cent coin sewn into a little bag and attached to the lining...for good luck. I buy them for the dress up box we all know that's a lie!! and they are always the ones chosen first by Frankie and her cousins young and old.
I will confess that I do look at these roses and pretend they are from my garden.....but im secretly pleased they are not cause I know how it pleases my dad to hand them over in soggy newspaper. he waits while I find a vase (of which I have just a few!) then tells me where they would best sit....put them where you`ll see them he says....well of course Einstein .
I don't tell my folks often enough how much I love and cherish them, thanks Em for reminding me.
and thanks to Lou from Little Green Shed for such loveliness!.....her nature in the home link up is really something special.
who wants some rain?...im happy to send it your way!
Axx
ps its pelting down and dad just called to say he will pick Charlie up....looks like the beers are on me!
Good on you Dad....sounds like a good bloke and he sure grows a beautiful rose :0)

Your Dad sounds ace Allison. I think it's v.cute that he told you to put the roses where you can see them.
ReplyDeleteIt's a tradition in my family to include coins for luck whenever we give a handbag, purse, or wallet for a pressie, but I have never heard of a coin being stitched inside before, I think it's really lovely.
Love it that 'Super Pa' comes to the rescue! You put your feet up and smell the roses! xx
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely gorgeous photographs! And, no, thanks for asking, but we don't any more rain here in Scotland!

how lovely! we always put a coin if we gift a purse too, supposed to bring luck and hope the purse will never be empty, hope it works for you x
ReplyDeleteAw, Al, reading this made me feel all warm and fuzzy ... well, once I got over you rubbing it in about the rain (which never did reach us). I loved reading about your Dad. What a treasure he is. The roses are superb (as is the photography)!
ReplyDeleteGuess whose washing dried beautifully under an overcast sky today.
xx
How lovely to have roses from your dad. I don't think my dad would have given me roses, my mother would have done that. I miss them both.
ReplyDeleteWe have rain at last, so don't need any now thanks! x
A Dad who grows roses, you are very lucky indeed! :) x
ReplyDeleteYour dad sounds great. I loved Em's post about her parents. We have a yellow rose bush in our garden that seems to flower all year. Just when I think its finished it starts flowering again! x
