ReplyDeleteI wonder what is actually in spam?....trotters and the like....tasty? x
DeleteOK...this Texan has to ask: What are "rates"? Taxes?
ReplyDeletehi Dana...rates are what we have the pleasure of paying our local shire councils....for waste management, water supply and usage etc....its a bit of a bug bear but thems the rules! Ax
Deletei have such a soft spot for those enid blyton books. when i was a kid in the uk, during the miners strike in the early 80-'s we were faced with the prospect of no christmas presents. on christmas day someone from the one of the strikers charities turned up with a three shelf bookcase, full of those books, i'm sure we had every one. magic christmas for a book worm. tales from the faraway tree was always my fave.
ReplyDeletethe bird cage looks so beautiful, and i love the tin too x
do you still have them Max?....im almost afraid to ask? x
Deletei LOVE that tray ! We had a similar print (maybe minus the ciggies) in our kitchen when I was growing up.
ReplyDeleteAnd thank goodness for beers in the fridge.
the ciggies are a scream!....a sign of the times! x
DeleteOMG I didn't notice the 'fags' i had to scroll back up twice to find it, how hysterical! I am so wanting that tray! The bird cage is so beautiful as well, what a lovely home you have and great pictures xxx
ReplyDeletewhy would they have perched the fags on top of the steak!....yum? x
Delete"Honey if you aint eatin spam, you aint eatin ham!" - I saw that on a movie once. I love Enid Blyton, I have a growing collection. My fav has always been the magic faraway tree. Great pics of your week! xo
ReplyDeletespam makes me shudder a little....its the jelly stuff eww! x
DeleteLove these little snippet of your home, especially that tin. If I had one, I wonder if I would budget better! :) x
ReplyDeleteim not holding out much hope for my budget...although im thinking great loose change box....for hittin the oppies! x
Deletewhat a lovely interesting home! Love those beautiful old books and that budget tin.
ReplyDeleteOh that Willow tin, I have been coveting one for months after seeing it on ebay. Although the boy would no doubt pinch it to sort all his money. And try including ham in every conversation without laughing when the four year old still calls it "pam". And vintage Enid Blytons are just the bees knees, I have a similar size bundle but different titles. mel x
ReplyDeleteid seen them on ebay as well mel....was sooo happy to see this one at the oppy....can I tell you the price??.....$1.00....I know!! x
DeleteDidn't notice the fags as was too busy wondering was that ham on the plate in the tray? That tin is fantastic, as is the bird and Frankie's little dimple in her cheek. Oh and the Enids! And Louisa May's! All of it really. Great photos x
ReplyDeletethat dimple gets her out of a lot of sticky situations let me tell you! x
DeleteNow that's why I always go over my budget....I don't have a budget tin. I've got to get me one of them....even if it buying it breaks the budget again :)
ReplyDeleteit didn't come with a key....no chance that budgets gonna survive! x
DeleteYour home is beautiful. Love how it is filled with all those op-shopped pieces.
ReplyDeletex
thanks zara....I often wonder where I would shop if oppies didn't exist....probably the dump! x
DeleteAll of these bits and pieces are amazing! Lovely photos!
ReplyDeletePS: ham is yummy! :)

DeleteHi, thanks so much for visiting me. I can't believe I haven't seen your blog before, your house, your kids - amazing. I just love it. I love all your quirky bits & pieces, beautiful. Will be catching up with you regularly now. Niki
ReplyDeleteHi Alison..what a fun visit here, thanks! Love all the sweet vintage pictures beside the bird cage & fabric looks great in it. Have you seen the movie Enid? Seems that she's not quite who some of us thought but looks intriguing. I'm quite sure most of us go through the ham phase..I did most especially when I was pregnant with Anna (1st) Funny thing is she's, the one that goes mental about ham every Christmas...so there you go. See you again soon. x
ReplyDeleteI'm loving your blog....Heidi
ReplyDeleteI love that tin!
ReplyDeleteSeriously i NEED that money box/coin tin! THAT IS CLASSIC as is the idea of putting a few pennies in :) oh, to have been a 1950's house wife... not!
