2013

well?....did you all survive the silliest season of them all...
if Christmas wasn't your undoing then these soaring temps will surely send more than a few of us over the edge....what is with mother nature?. another 40+ degree day here today and forecast for 42 tomorrow.....please please cool change cometh!!

our days have been spent in water...literally in up to our necks any chance we get. thank you santa for all the water play items received at chrissy. the best being a HUGE wading pool that fits 2 adults and 2 kids (little ones!) comfortably, complete with sun shade and showerhead attachment...its bliss. I would provide pics but.....me in a wading pool??...trust me it would go viral (and not for a good reason!)

the decorations are all packed away now....but there is always the rogue one that you find days later, after you have taped up all the boxes and put them in the storage space in the eaves of the garage!!
so as punishment this little tree gets to hang there for all to see probably for the rest of 2013. that will teach it!!

don't you just love little packages all tied up with string!
especially neon pink string!
this darling came for me whilst we were away at Lennox Head for some hols....so Christmas time for me when we arrived home!

I gifted myself a little something from the gorgeous Pippa. It was so hard to choose which beads I adored the most but these little pink beauties were calling my name!
Love them!

they look sweet draped on and around my latest oppy finds don't they!
was a little surprised at what I found today as school hols usually mean slim pickins...maybe the heats keeping everybody at the waters edge instead of digging around in oppys.
the vintage floral card basket is definitely my find of 2013....I know early days and a big call but ive always wanted one and shes a beauty!!

more cutlery....yes I have a problem...especially seeing that I am the only one home at the moment using it. the kids have there own favourites they use, niccy is only home one week a month....oh well when I do throw that fabulous dinner party one day they will get used!

mangoes from the oppy....50c each. YUM.....will be making mango ice cream with these babies!

this tablecloth is fab!...the colours amazing....perfect match for the pretty Johnson cups

aren't these doll clothes hangers the cutest!

more doilies....I just cant leave them behind

and all this wonderful ECO store product is MINE!!! thanks to lovely Trishie from "under lock and key" for hosting a great giveaway!....they smell devine!, cant wait to try it all. some for the house and some for me! (we both need it).

weve had days full of nothing at all and days bursting at the seams with busyness.
a few of those were spent at beautiful Lennox Head...child free!!. a very thoughtful Christmas present from my mum and step dad.
Charlie is disliking the school hols as per usual...the endless hours of "playtime" confuse him and he cries out for structure and routine....I can provide routine most of the time but im sure the days are longer in school holidays. Frankie is loving having her big brother at home (someone to boss around!). Niccy is back up north after 2 weeks at home and im feeling it I can tell you!.
The only thing this horrendous heat is good for is toilet training!. my little girl took it upon herself to start and is going great guns. Only on day 4 and I don't want to jinx it but by golly I think shes got it!!
2013 has started all guns blazing and although I don't do the resolution thing I have made some little promises to myself...the usual but the biggest is to look after me a little better....you all know how it is, everyone else comes first yada yada....lets see if I can do a little better than 2012.

the first step I took was to the hairdresser....I walked in channelling Pink but somehow came out looking like Billy Idol.....rockin that cradle of love baby!!!
its soooo short and soooo blonde but I kinda like it....way out of my usual comfort zone...but hey its 2013 people....lets shake it up!

so how is everyone dealing with the heat?, how are you keeping your kidlets busy?.
please...I could use all the tips I can get!!

stay cool!
Axx

  4. Love all your oppie finds, especially the tablecloth and the milkglass. I saw a huge milkglass tureen in a second hand store yesterday for $85! unbelievable really. Needless to say it did not come home with me. Don't get me started on rogue ornaments, have a whole pile from under the lounge. And stinking hot up here too, we are doing daily hosings on the trampoline and we are so so fortunate to have our boy enrolled in the school swim program three mornings a week that gives us some routine on the holidays and doing 30 laps is a very calming way to start the day. And an endless supply of homemade icypoles and slushies helps too. so nice to hear you had a childfree break, i think i get one soon for my birthday, helps keep the sanity in check really! mel x

  7. OK, Allison, your Op Shop finds have to take the cake, especially THIS time of year! Its slim pickings on the Oppy front here in N.E. Victoria right now, but things should improve over coming weeks when folks have the post Xmas clear out, or they have the relocation toss out.
Love the card basket, such a pretty one.
Adore your new beads, they look as yummy as squishy marshmallows.

  9. Hi there! I've popped over from Ouchflower. You have some great finds! I particularly love your sets of mugs. I have a real thing for retro mugs and those blue ones with saucers are amazing. But I love the yellow flower ones too. That size suits coffee machines beautifully. (I am in love with our ALDI coffee machine - it has changed my life - sad, but true.) Great beads from Pippa too! The pink and black work really well together. Good choice. : )

  10. Zomg! I love those blue and white cups and plates Allison :) As for the kidlets in this heat, we just crank the aircon and watch movies, play board games or play on computers. It's too hot to organise anything else ;)
